Customer Service
The great thing about a Customer Service Apprenticeship is that
it qualifies you to work anywhere! Every business has customers – and
if you have the skills and ability to impress their customers
with outstanding service you’ll be in great demand.
Typically you’d have a job in places such as:-
- Retail shops
- Leisure centres
- On reception in a hotel or office
- Call centres – handling inbound and outbound calls
for insurance companies, travel companies or banks
- Estate agents
– and much more.
You’ll study for an NVQ 2 and/or 3 in the area you choose.
You’ll also undertake Key Skills that will appeal to employers,
like communication and information technology, and you’ll
study for appropriate technical certificates. Even better, you’ll
get paid as you learn.
If you want to be the next Jamie Oliver or Nigella Lawson and
have dreams of one day running a busy kitchen and whipping up
magnificent culinary creations – then an Apprenticeship
in catering could be for you. You’ll learn the essential
skills you need to be hot in any kitchen and really get your
career cooking!
We offer a variety of Apprenticeships in Catering, including:-
- Food Preparation and Cooking

- Patisserie and Confectionery
Quite a variety. Popular jobs you might get include:-
- Commis Chef
- Catering Assistant
- Sous Chef
You could work in a large or small commercial kitchen in a hotel,
restaurant or fast food outlet. Most of your training will take
place on the job and will be very practical. You’ll be
taught by experienced professionals and your training will be
tailor-made to meet your individual needs.
Studying for an NVQ 2 and/or 3 in one of the Apprenticeships
listed here will also see you developing key skills like communication,
numeracy and teamwork. A useful technical certificate like Food
Hygiene and Health & Safety is also yours to gain. Don’t
forget you’ll also be paid as you learn!
If cooking’s not your thing, but you still like the idea
of working in a hotel or restaurant in a busy and fulfilling
customer service environment, then a career in hospitality will
offer you all that and more.
We offer Apprenticeships in a range of hospitality occupations:

- Food and drink service
- Housekeeper
Apprenticeships in Hospitality give you the scope to work in
a whole range of places from bars and nightclubs to hotels and
restaurants, where you’ll excel in providing a professional
welcome to customers. It really depends on which of the options
above you choose. Wherever you work, your training will be on
the job and relevant to your needs.
You’ll study for an NVQ2 and/or 3 in one of the areas listed
and undertake Key Skills training, which will add to your abilities
in areas like communication, numeracy and problem-solving. You
will also study for technical certificates like Food Hygiene
and Health & Safety. You may be able to go on to take further
qualifications to develop your skills and work as a manager or
supervisor. And of course, you’ll be paid while you learn.
There are some fantastic opportunities if you want to do an Apprenticeship
in Child Care.
Child care is an incredibly rewarding career, helping children
to learn and develop, and you‘ll also get the chance to
relive the fun bits of your childhood while you work!

Typically you will work in a:-
- Nursery
- Pre-school facility
- Playgroup
- Crêche
You’ll be involved in the day-to-day care of all the
children there, entertaining them with games and toys and helping
with educational activities such as reading and writing. It’s
rewarding work, contributing to a child’s development and
growth at pre-school age.
You’ll study for an NVQ2 and/or 3 in your chosen area,
and back this up with Key Skills like communication and numeracy.
On top of that, you’ll gain a technical certificate to
underpin your knowledge. All this learning – and you’ll
earn money too!
If you are caring, sharing and patient, and want to use your
natural ability with people to develop a really worthwhile career,
then an apprenticeship in Care is the way to go.
A career in Health and Social Care brings with it many rewards
associated with supporting vulnerable people, whether they’re
in the community, in supported housing, on specialised projects
or in residential or nursing homes. You will develop essential
skills that could lead to you becoming a nurse or social worker
of the future.
Health & Social Care
In most cases you will be based in a:-
- Residential home
- Nursing home
- Domiciliary care organisation
You’ll be helping elderly people to live as independently
as possible, while assisting with essential daily tasks. In some
cases you might be based in a nursing home where you’ll
be on hand to help elderly people to recover, recuperate or rehabilitate.
You’ll study for an NVQ2 and/or 3 in Health & Social
Care and you will also work toward Key Skills to improve your
numeracy skills and enable you to communicate effectively with
the people you are caring for, and working alongside. Studying
at the same time for a Certificate in Supporting Care Practice
to give you an increased knowledge and understanding of your
job, you’ll also be paid as you earn.
Computers, email and the internet are now entrenched in our society,
and yet only a few years ago, they were an optional extra. Now
everyone needs to know how to use them, and if they don’t,
then they need someone on hand who can. That someone could be
you! IT has developed very fast and is continuing to develop
apace, creating lots of opportunities for a fast-moving and exciting
career. If this sounds attractive, then an apprenticeship in
IT could be perfect for you.
We’ll give you the skills to whip up spreadsheets and documents
and use Word, Excel, Access and email at the click of a button.
You’ll soon learn how to really blow your colleagues away
with your computing knowledge!
IT User
You’ll more than likely be based in an office environment
and could work in many capacities. For instance, a:
- Computer operator
- Civil servant
- Web designer
- Software developer
- Secretary
The skills you learn will help you to provide a professional
and important service to any business that uses computer software,
and we’ve got links with over 750 employers to help find
you a job vacancy to suit your needs.
You’ll study for an NVQ 2 and/or 3, as well as undertaking
Key Skills that will back up your IT knowledge with other important
workplace attributes, like communication and numeracy. You’ll
also work towards appropriate technical certificates and don’t
forget, you’ll be paid as you learn!
Do you have what it takes to get ahead in the workplace? If this
is your goal, then the skills and attributes you’ll learn
from an apprenticeship in Management and/or Team Leading will
put you in the driving position, and certainly improve your prospects
where you work now.
You’ll learn how to work with others to be part of a great
team, become better at managing your workload and improve your
communication and motivational skills - in other words you’ll
be an organised high-flyer before you know it!
Most Managers or Team Leaders will already be in work and will
be looking to boost their skills to become a great manager of
people or resources – something every workplace needs.
You may be working in a:-

- Shop
- Call centre
- Hotel
– or essentially in any rôle where you have a
team of people.
You’ll study for an NVQ 2 and/or 3 in Team Leading or Management,
and on completion you’ll also receive the Chartered Management
Institute Certificate in Management. With the membership of the
Institute this confers, you’ll be able to access the largest
management database in Europe and attend regular management events,
great for career development and networking, too. In addition
there will be extensive coaching and workshops to help you study.
An Apprenticeship in Retail will help your career to move on
as fast as the fastest moving consumer goods. It’s not
just about ringing the till and taking the money – you’ll
get to establish relationships with your customers, learn how
to make your store look good, monitor stock control and take
the low-down on what you sell!

and you might work in a famous high street store, a supermarket
or a warehouse.

You’ll study for an NVQ 2 and/or level 3 in the appropriate
area, and undertake Key Skills to support your learning and develop
essential capabilities in communication and teamwork. You’ll
also study for a useful Certificate in Retailing, and, yes, you’re
paid as you earn!
