Courses for Students

Opportunities for students

Working with young people to help them maximise their potential is at the heart of Beneast’s philosophy. Businesses require skilled and enthusiastic employees and we know what it takes to give young people the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

The following courses have been designed with young people in mind, to ensure they get a broad range of knowledge that leads to recognised qualifications, and to help them gain skills valued by employers.

The activities can be delivered in school or at one of Beneast’s purpose-built training centres. They provide an excellent way to support your school and boost the learning potential of your students.

Introduction to Key Skills

Giving students an essential insight into the im portance of Key Skills, this session spells out what Key Skills are and outlines the benefits. Students will learn how to achieve success, find out what they need to do and discover the information they need to get started.

Ongoing Key Skills support classes

Beneast is committed to working with young people to ensure they achieve success. We will support your students as they prepare for testing and as they build their portfolios. Support can be delivered at any level.

Award in Food Safety

For young people with aspirations to work in a kitchen or catering environment, or those who might be helping with food preparation in any environment, this Level 2 qualification awarded by the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health is an absolute must, and offers a big bonus to prospective employers.

Covering all the essentials in a one-day course, young people gain important knowledge and skills which are recognised across the industry.

Employment Rights and Responsibilities

A good foundation for introducing young people to the world of work, this full day course builds a foundation from which students can confidently and knowledgably embark on an Apprenticeship or employment.

Health and Safety

This is vital for any young person to have on their CV, and will really put your students head and shoulders above the competition in the eyes of employers.

Vocational Learning

Vocational Learning has never been more important, and developing the talents of young people who benefit from a variety of learning styles, and are more interested in practical ways of learning, will now be high on the agenda of every school.

Beneast can offer a bespoke range of Vocational Learning for students, utilising our excellent links with over 750 local employers. Stimulating and constructive, our training will motivate young people to achieve results and gain valuable employability skills in a subject of their choosing.

Work-related learning is available in the following occupational areas:

  • Business Administration
  • Catering & Hospitality
  • Customer Service
  • Early Years & Childcare
  • Health & Social Care
  • IT User
  • Management
  • Retail

Students embarking on this route will be offered suitable work placements in their chosen occupational area, and will also work towards a nationally recognised qualification appropriate for their level of learning.

Students benefit from a bespoke package of learning targeted at their needs, and are fully supported by Beneast as they work towards their vocational qualification.

Each student will spend time in school working towards the national curriculum, together with time ‘on the job’ experiencing life in the workplace in their chosen sector. They may have the opportunity to work towards further optional qualifications. Vocational assessors and basic skills tutors will support students to achieve their goals.

GeneSys Assessment

As part of our commitment to Vocational Learning, Beneast is able to offer GeneSys Psychometric Assessments to measure the abilities and vocational interests of young people.

GeneSys Assessment is a core part of the work-based learning recruitment process. It provides information on the young person to support other documentation, such as the Progress File and school reports.

The outcome of a GeneSys Assessment helps the young person to ensure they’re on the right track as they develop their career plan. It also assists learning providers to accurately place young people.

The GeneSys Assessment comprises a series of questions, grouped into four key themes:

  • Occupational interests profile
  • Verbal reasoning
  • Numerical reasoning
  • Abstract reasoning

Completing the GeneSys Assessment could significantly speed up the application process for young people seeking to embark on the work-based learning route – and all we need is access to the school’s computer suite!

Beneast’s experts will administer the tests on your school’s behalf and young people would get their results the next day.

In addition to the support already outlined, Beneast also offers FREE provision to schools wanting expert help with activities including:
